What is your biggest challenge in your current role?
The biggest challenge in my current role is twofold. First, I need to ensure I'm constantly on a growth path.
As an account manager, I am client-facing. However, you're not automatically placed in front of the client upon arrival. Even if you are, you may not have as significant a voice or speaking role in the room.
I had to master many administrative tasks to earn the trust that I am an organized person capable of managing client conversations. This is something I need to continuously prove and hone, regardless of my title. I'm fortunate to have had several promotions since I started, but I'm still striving for the next goal.
This allows me to have conversations not just with my direct client or marketer, but also with their supervisors. This is because I've developed trust and a reputation for managing conversations effectively.
The second biggest challenge is managing the diverse personalities of the people I work with. I currently work on the Walmart account, which I believe is the biggest corporation in the world. As you can imagine, there's a lot of bureaucracy that needs to be managed.
Ultimately, we don't have control over that. The best we can do is present ourselves truthfully and advocate for our ideas, both mine and our team's. This ensures everyone is on the same page to achieve our best business goals.
