What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
My current role is as a supplier manager. I work within the procurement part of the supply chain, which also includes operations and logistics.
Within procurement, I've worked in sourcing, supplier management, and commodity management. My main scope is supplier management, which is essentially relationship management.
People sometimes say they want to go into sales or marketing, but in supply chain, you become a "reverse salesperson." That's a good way to describe what I do.
My career path offers a more analytical approach. My job involves a lot of analytics, relationship management, and project management. It's a good balance for someone who wants work to be important but also desires flexibility.
My job is generally a nine-to-five role. Technically, I'm based in Austin, so I work from ten to seven, which is common here to support California hours. This flexibility is a significant benefit, unlike some other fields.
