Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?

I attended a liberal arts college and majored in communication. I had planned to be a journalist after graduation, so I went out for the school's newspaper and took a couple of internships with local newspapers.

In one of those internships, my beat was the nonprofit sector, and that's where I really started to feel inspired by nonprofit work. After I graduated, I got a job at a nonprofit on the fundraising team.

I used my communication skills to run their website and wrote campaign materials for fundraising. Then I decided to pursue my master's degree in business, focusing on nonprofits by taking more classes in that area.

My final project was a consulting engagement with a nonprofit. I thought that someday I might be more qualified to take on a leadership role in a nonprofit organization.

I've worked at big nonprofits like UCLA and the American Red Cross, and also for very small organizations with just a handful of employees. Now, I'm part of a small consulting firm that mostly takes on nonprofit clients, and the majority of them are in the education sector.
