What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?
My day-to-day job isn't necessarily super clearly defined. It's up to me to be resourceful and creative to figure out what I can best do to create value for myself and my firm, and to be helpful to my clients.
If you're a person who needs handholding or a lot of specific direction, this may not be the right kind of job for you. If you're the type of person who's given tasks A, B, and C, and then you do those tasks and don't know what to do next, that won't really work.
There's an expectation that isn't necessarily written down or explicit in your job objectives, but you're still expected to create value. So, it's really important to be an enterprising person.
That wasn't something that was super clear to me upfront. Maybe it was clear to an extent, but I didn't understand to what extent until I was in the job and realized I needed to make my day and figure out the best way to make use of my time and the company's resources.
