Biggest Challenges Faced By an HR Compliance Consultant at Kaiser Permanente

Cheryl's biggest challenge as an HR Compliance Consultant III at Kaiser Permanente is overcoming client resistance to technology, specifically regarding the shift from "paper documentation" to electronic systems like the electronic competencies project, despite the benefits of risk mitigation and organizational efficiency. Fortunately, the majority of clients are embracing the change and "being our advocates" to those still hesitant.

What is your biggest challenge in your role?

The biggest challenge, and I'll tie this to one of my projects, is that when you're working with clients who aren't ready to embrace technology and are comfortable with paper documentation, that's where you get pushback.

When we're working together regionally and rolling things out to a facility, you're trying to ensure the client feels comfortable. You need to explain that this is good for them, good for the organization, and that it will mitigate risk.

I think people embracing technology is the biggest challenge. But so far, so good. We've had some pushback, but the majority of our clients are jumping on the electronic technology bandwagon.

They are even becoming our advocates to those who are having a hard time embracing it.
