Transcript

Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Any internships or jobs you had before your current role?

First and foremost, I didn't really do any internships. I was doing volunteer work through my church. Prior to that, I took opportunities to help my grandmother, who ran a business.

She would seek support, so I started doing things with her and learned a lot there. As I got older, I volunteered through my church and then worked. I really saw that I had a gift there.

I continued doing that as opportunities opened up. That's pretty much where I realized I could build off of that gift. I realized I enjoyed it, so I just continued doing work through there.

It was an unconventional college start. I was at Junior College, not sure what I was going to do. I thought, "I don't want to be just a secretary all my life."

So I was doing other little things, from foreign language to taking different classes that would be supportive from a business perspective. From there, I found roles and good jobs that fed that type of role.

That's pretty much how it worked for me. It wasn't conventional, like knowing what I was going for until later. I did more executive programs and things like that.
