What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
I think part of what I enjoy most is sometimes I feel like a scientist. I'm not a true scientist; I'm an engineer, and they kind of separate us here.
You have your rocket scientists and other engineers, who are kind of in the background. But whenever I'm in a lab, I feel like a true scientist because there's a lot going on.
You have to be really creative in how you solve these problems. If you're testing new hardware for a new system, you don't really know what's going to happen. You can run all your simulations and have an idea, but a lot of unexpected things occur.
Being there and troubleshooting this stuff, plugging and unplugging things, running different types of tests, makes you feel like a true scientist. I think that's at the core and essence of being an engineer. You're creating, almost like an entrepreneur, and I think that's probably the most fun thing about the job.
