Transcript

Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experience in college? Did you have any internships or jobs before taking up this role?

In my college experience, something that helped me transition to corporate sustainability, my current role, was my undergraduate degree in environmental studies. I actively sought out engagement in that field.

There were environmental clubs on campus where I held board positions. I helped develop the program and stayed involved that way. I also interned with the Sierra Club, which was an unpaid position.

That internship was about a six-month stint. It mostly involved community organizing and helping to build programming for the local Earth Day event hosted by that chapter. I also worked for one of my professors.

This really allowed me to integrate myself into the community and connect with people who had relevant experience. From there, I got my first job in sustainability consulting, though not strictly corporate sustainability at that point. I consulted for a major telecommunications provider.

That experience opened doors. You learn along the way, building on your skills and knowledge from that point forward. During my time in college, that's essentially what my experience has been to lead me to where I am today.
