What does a day in the life of your role look like?
No, two days are the same. Sometimes I work from home, and sometimes I work on campus. I'll describe the days I work on campus.
Typically, I get to work and try to have some protected time in the morning where I can write and answer emails and schedule any meetings. This allows me to focus on getting a fresh start for the day.
Much like any teacher, I have to create a plan for my class. Usually, I'm getting ready for a class that's happening once or twice a week. I might be grading assignments or preparing a presentation for class.
Then, I have various committee meetings throughout the day. I also advise graduate students pursuing Masters or PhDs, meeting with them one-to-one to discuss their coursework and research ideas.
I also have ongoing research project meetings with members of my research team. We discuss recruiting participants, analyzing data, or writing publications.
