What skills are most important for a job like yours?
The number one thing on the list would be emotional intelligence. A lot of what you'll be doing involves negotiating with people for things, tasks, resources, and everything else. You really need to be able to align incentives between yourself, your company, and any third party or stakeholder you're interacting with.
Emotional intelligence isn't just about being able to sell. It's about taking people's needs into consideration and aligning everyone towards the same goal. I would say that's number one.
Number two, I would say resource management is really big. It doesn't matter what your intentions are or how much people like you. If they don't have what they need to get their job done, the company ultimately will not survive.
Whether that's actual materials for construction sites, having enough people on a project team, or ensuring people are paid on time and materials are ordered, it involves a lot of logistics. Those are the top two things you would need to nail down really well for my field.
