Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college and any internships or jobs you had before your current role?
I made a career change about a year ago. I went back to college, but I actually started my career in architecture.
I completed the architecture program and had my first internship during my capstone project in my fifth year. I began by working on residential projects.
After graduation, I moved into retail and restaurant design. For the last six years, I focused on multifamily residential projects.
My work was primarily on the construction or technical side, preparing construction drawings and obtaining permits. I started as an entry-level employee.
My next role was job captain, where I took on more day-to-day responsibilities. I then became a project manager on the architecture side.
I mainly worked with engineers, contractors, and city officials. In my current role, I do construction project management as an owner's representative.
We currently handle office renovations for a client. It's similar to my architectural background, but now I'm an owner's rep dealing with the overall project, not just the architectural aspects.
