What is one lesson you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
This is something I learned every day, over and over. If you're having a bad day, before you criticize someone else, have some appreciation for the day that they're having.
Especially when you get into your career, life is complicated. There are challenges at home, challenges at work, and challenges politically and economically.
People can be having a really bad day. That doesn't necessarily mean they're out to get you or the company; they're just having a bad day.
So, having some empathy and appreciation for the complexity of life, your own and those of your coworkers, will go an extremely long way. This helps in building meaningful relationships, collaborative partnerships, and trust with your coworkers and stakeholders.
Life is hard, but have some appreciation, because everyone's life is hard.
