What does a day in the life of an outside general counsel for investment firms look like?
A lot of it is reactive. Since my clients have questions for me, I'm available to answer them by email, phone, or video.
Often, these are ongoing projects. If my clients are in the process of buying or selling an investment firm, I'm doing a lot of work with very lengthy documents, often 80 pages long.
I talk to them about the different issues. It could be talking to junior people in the firm, helping them interpret various federal securities laws. It could also be talking to the CEO about some new strategic initiative. So, it's a whole range.
