What is your biggest challenge in your current role?
My biggest challenge right now, and I think it's always been my biggest challenge throughout my career, is being able to have a work-life balance. I'm trying to find a balance in those two areas because auditing is very busy. Even early in my career, I'm very family-oriented as a person.
So, being able to spend time with my family while also balancing my time at work is something I consciously have to work towards. On one end, you could get carried away because I love to meet my goals and always be on top of things. I don't want to fall behind.
Sometimes you find yourself working so much that you neglect other parts of your life. Over time, I've become much more organized. I set goals and targets for myself, prioritize, and ensure I hit those goals to finish tasks when they are due, not waiting until the last minute. It's a constant learning process for me and has been a major factor.
The other thing is being able to adapt to different personalities, because people are so different. You have to be able to communicate. I've dealt with some abrasive personalities, and you still have to manage to stay professional. Because you will be working with this person, I ask myself how I can maintain professionalism and respect to get my job done. That's something I'm consciously working on.
