Favorite Parts of Being a Senior Manager of Academics at TNTP
Ashley, a Senior Manager of Academics at TNTP, most enjoys "making things better" on a large scale, impacting student outcomes across the southwest region and improving the work of their team through coaching and process improvements. The opportunity for continuous professional development within a "learning organization" full of talented individuals, combined with a focus on feedback and learning from others, is also highly valued.

What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
I really love the opportunity to make things better. That's one value that truly matters to me, and it's why I've been in education for so long. I want to improve outcomes for students, and that's what I get to do.
I get to do that on a greater scale than I had as a teacher or a district leader because I'm doing it across not just the state of Texas, but across the southwest region, which is where I work. So I'm making things better for my clients, which I really love. I'm improving their work and their student outcomes on a really big scale.
I'm also improving things for my team. I have this space to contribute ideas and improve our processes. For the team I manage, I get to coach them and continuously improve their work and their effectiveness, so I love making things better.
I also really appreciate working at a learning organization. We say that a lot, but it just means that this organization is full of talented people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. I get to learn from them in the work. We are also clearly oriented towards taking time every single week to learn more, do a book study, take a session, and just professionally develop and get better all the time.
I really value feedback. I seek it, I get it, and I get it. So getting better myself and always having the opportunity to learn from other people in other organizations is very valuable.
