What is your biggest challenge in your current role?
My biggest challenge, if I had to choose, is juggling two halves at the same time. This happens when I'm pulled to process referrals for insurance companies but also need to do my department secretary duties.
Processing referrals requires extreme accuracy. Once processed, they go to our schedulers to book patient appointments. After the patient's visits with clinicians, the information returns to our back office for billing.
If we make a mistake, we might not be able to bill, and Kaiser would have to cover the costs. It's challenging to maintain this meticulous processing while also being pulled to assist supervisors with urgent tasks.
Supervisors sometimes need things immediately, and their requests can be more complex than initially expected, as they require time to complete. All of this is on top of ensuring my own processing is accurate and correctly flows from my desk to the schedulers and then to the back office for billing.
So, I would say that's the most challenging part of my job. Everything else is pretty much easy.
