What an HR Professional at Startups at TriNet wishes they had known before entering the HR industry
Anthony from TriNet Inc. wishes someone had emphasized the sheer volume of regulations at the federal, state, county, and city levels, noting that the role has equipped them with "a bunch of stuff that other people don't know" and expertise so specialized it feels like being "professionally bilingual," speaking both business and HR.

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?
This role in particular involved a ton of learning about all the different regulatory agents here in the United States. This was at a federal, state, county, and city level. There are so many rules.
I guess that's one thing I appreciate about the role. I now know a bunch of stuff that other people don't know. There's no way to learn this unless you also work in this industry.
It would be like dealing with shipping containers, getting them in and out of the Port of Los Angeles. It's a hyper-specific skill that's super unique. You wouldn't know that until you got that role.
I wouldn't know any of this HR stuff until I worked here. Now I feel like I literally speak another language, like I'm professionally bilingual. I can talk business and I can talk HR.
