Career Path of a Financial Analyst at Disney Experiences
Anika started college as a commuter student juggling work and school, leading to initial "minimum wage jobs" for experience, and eventually securing a pivotal year-long internship with Disney's hotel finance team. Here's the cleaned transcript:
I'll give you a bit of how I started from point A to where I am now. When I started college, I was a commuter student, part-time employee, and a full-time student. That was a lot of juggling.
From a career standpoint, I started my first internship with Disney the summer before my junior and senior year. Before that, I worked minimum wage jobs just to get money and experience. Most of it was office jobs, like an assistant or front desk.
Once I got my internship with Disney, I worked with them for a year and then transitioned to another internship. I had a year-long internship with the hotel finance team, and then a six-month internship with revenue management and analytics, which was more of a data side compared to finance.
This entire internship process gave me a lot of opportunity to explore what corporate finance means compared to a traditional finance role, as well as data analytics and how we apply finance or analytics in the workplace. Since then, I was given an offer to come back as a financial analyst.
