What's one lesson you've learned that's proven significant in your career?

For me, the key is to take the time to build strong professional connections early on and maintain them throughout. This was a recurring piece of advice in my graduate program, which emphasized LinkedIn and expanding one's professional network.

Sac State, especially its MBA program, offered many opportunities to connect with alumni who were already established in their careers. These events, often held at happy hours, provided a relaxed setting for networking.

Beyond formal events, I also focused on maintaining relationships with professional contacts from my previous roles. This proved invaluable later on when my former manager from Blue Shield reached out.

She contacted me a couple of years after I left, when I was considering a career change, and mentioned a potential opportunity. It's definitely important to nurture these relationships as you advance in your career.
