**Q11: Significant Lesson - Career**
One lesson that has proven significant in my career is to really take the time to make strong professional connections early on and maintain those relationships throughout. I heard this advice often in my graduate program, and it was super helpful.
There was a huge focus on LinkedIn and really increasing your professional network. They definitely gave us a lot of opportunities at Sac State, especially through their MBA network. They provided many chances to meet with others who had gone through the graduate program and were already in their professional careers. We could connect over drinks at happy hours that Sac State would organize.
That helped, but also I made sure to keep and maintain my professional connections from previous workplaces. This really helped me later on. For example, my manager from Blue Shield, with whom I had worked well, reached out a couple of years after when I was looking to make a change. She said, "Hey, I might actually have something."
So, it's definitely important to maintain those relationships as you go through your career.
