What skills are most important for a job like yours?
For a job like mine, I'll presume we're talking very specifically about my consulting business. As a consultant, I think it's imperative that you are very competent in whatever your chosen technical field is, or whatever you're consulting on.
That's kind of table stakes to get into it. But probably the most important thing for a consultant is their EIQ. It's understanding not just what the client is saying their problems are, but really trying to understand what led to those problems.
This allows you to better help them address not just the symptoms, but maybe the root cause of the issue as well.
