Favorite Parts of Being a Finance Manager at Microsoft
Andrew, a Finance Manager at Microsoft, enjoys the technical aspects of the role because it adds complexity to the finance function and allows them to see "all the brand new products being built," along with the technology behind them. The role also provides opportunities to collaborate and "learn from a bunch of different people," including those in finance, engineering, and business operations, who are often engaged in "really cool side projects" during hackathons and are happy to share their knowledge.

What do you enjoy most about being in your role?
I would say, definitely the technical side of things. Ads and supporting some of the products add another complexity to the finance function.
It's not strictly finance. You're in tech, so we do get to see all the brand new products being built and the technology behind them, which not everyone sees on a day-to-day basis.
Then you get to work with a lot of really smart people, whether that be in finance, engineering, or business operations. There are just a lot of really smart people doing really cool stuff for their job.
Also, we have a lot of hackathons and things like that where people do cool side projects. Most people are super happy to share them with you.
So, I think just the ability to learn from a bunch of different people, whether it be finance or more technical engineers, there's always opportunity to learn and collaborate with a lot of great people.
