What skills are most important for a job like yours?
Considering it's engineering, I would say good at math. I don't use math as much as I did in school, but it's definitely a part of my daily job. Being good at and liking math is a good skill.
Another important skill is being detail-oriented. There are many small things in our job that can be very important. If you overlook the little details, it can get you in trouble. Being very detail-oriented is huge in our job.
Also, being willing to work with other people is important. In our company, we have teams of five to six people. We don't necessarily work with everyone every day, but it's important to be willing to ask questions and take questions from others.
Understanding that you don't know everything is also crucial. Some people might have better opinions, and being okay with taking criticism is very important in our job.
