What are your main responsibilities within your role?

My role has various responsibilities. One, I manage a team of educators who provide topics of interest to the credit union industry in a multitude of ways.

There's online learning, webinar platforms, and direct learning opportunities that we consider part of our e-learning platform. We also have conferences throughout the year. My team plans multiple conferences, up to eight to nine per year. And then we have in-person learning available as well.

In the credit union, banking, or finance industry, there are a lot of regulations and compliance issues that we must follow. Providing that topical information so credit unions can keep their doors open is very relevant to the job that I do.

But also, like any industry, we want to ensure we're looking at the soft education components that we might be able to fill for a credit union, from their frontline office staff to backend staff. So that's the education side.

Credit unions are unique in their community and social responsibility as nonprofit cooperatives. It's our role and duty to ensure that the communities in which we reside are strong community support. We have different ways that we do that through granting and funding opportunities, sponsorships, and volunteerism. All the feel-good components of what a company can do to support their credit union is another aspect of the job that I do.
