What have you learned about this role that someone would have told you before you entered the industry?

I wish I knew how to be a good leader, and it sounds like I know it now. I'm still learning, but there's definitely a lot that goes into managing your team successfully.

Every person wants a different approach. Sometimes you might assume you know what to do instead of just asking questions, listening, and being able to provide support for your teammates in the way they need it.

Inspire them to work on the project, help them grow, but also still have this responsibility on yourself for the project to succeed. I wish I knew a little bit more about how to navigate these kinds of situations.

Another thing I would say is to establish relationships across the organization. When I joined the company, I was very fortunate to have a great team, and I really enjoyed working with them.

I didn't put a lot of effort into talking to other departments or other teams as well, or seeing what they were working on. I wish I had shared with them what I was working on and heard their perspective. I think it's very valuable, and I wish I had started to do it earlier.
