What does a day in the life of the head of impact investing look like?
It's a lot of communication. Usually, I wake up earlier than the technical workday starts.
Often, at least 50% of the time, I'm not in the office. I'm on the road, going to different conferences to meet entrepreneurs and monitor our portfolio companies. I also meet with different fund managers to evaluate them or get updates. These updates often turn into different leads when comparing notes on companies and perspectives.
I usually start my day with reading and communication, checking the news. Then, depending on the day, unless I'm at a conference, I try to have one thing I'm trying to get done that day.
That could be reviewing investment memos submitted by Associates, honing our impact criteria and operational strategy, or conducting interviews for open positions.
