What is your biggest challenge in your current role?

I think I alluded to this a little in my previous response. It's really about getting folks to come on board. Most people want to do the right thing and follow policies and procedures.

However, if there's an urgent engagement and you tell someone they have to follow a process that could take one to two weeks, that's not exactly music to their ears.

When it came down to finding a solution, communication was key. If we could tell people, "We totally understand this is an urgent engagement, but here's what will happen if you don't follow these procedures and something goes wrong," it got their attention.

Laying out the potential consequences often made people willing to work with us. They also felt better about the process once they understood the potential implications if something went wrong.

It wasn't just someone telling them "no" because they owned the process. Often, another team owned the process, and we were serving as gatekeepers to ensure things were followed.

It can be challenging to get people to face the music sometimes, but if you effectively communicate the importance and significance, it leads to better outcomes for everyone.
