What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
I'll answer this in two ways. I'll focus on the financial services industry and then the impact-driven startup industry.
Having spent 15 years in financial services, I love the FinTech space. I think the advancement of technology and how far it's come over the last few years, combined with how customers have changed their views on financial institutions, or any institution, has really made finance and FinTech increasingly intriguing to me.
Customers don't think about their bank just in the context of their bank, but in the context of their dating apps, Netflix, and every app they engage with. They're comparing. Why can't my financial institution make recommendations as easily as Netflix can?
Technology is changing so fast, and people's expectations are changing so much. Money is also really emotional and influences how we make decisions. This intersection of money, technology, and expectations presents a great opportunity for companies to be innovative and make an impact on their customers' lives.
The FinTech space is really exciting. I also encourage people to look into impact-driven organizations or startups. I've recently pivoted to this space, and what I love about it is helping build products, services, and experiences that actually make a difference in the world. Leveraging technology to build products that help people in times of change, struggle, or uncertainty is really rewarding.
