What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
I got into education because it opened a lot of doors for me. What I love most is knowing that I'm making an impact in one way or another.
On the student-focused side, I'm assuring that they won't go without a teacher. As any of us could remember, there were those days. Yes, fun brain breaks, but that doesn't come without an impact. As kids, we don't understand that impact, but as adults, we see it very clearly.
On the educator side, I'm allowing individuals to grow their skills. I think roughly a third of my subs are entering some kind of program after something with those for a year. They come to understand that this is the work that they love, and this is the work where they have an impact. That might not have been the case if I didn't have the opportunity to step into a classroom and see what it's all about and how they have a role to play in it.
