Main Responsibilities of a Managing Director at Qualia Legacy Advisors

A day in the life of an investment banker at Qualia Legacy Advisors involves significant time spent "staring at [the] computer," conducting virtual meetings, and "dialing for dollars" to find investors for clients. The most rewarding aspect, however, is the client interaction, understanding their needs, and guiding them through the "lengthy process," which typically spans a year.

What does a day in the life of an investment banker look like?

We spend a lot of time on the phone or in front of our computer, sending emails. Since the pandemic, most meetings happen over Zoom. So for better or worse, you're spending a lot of time staring at your CPU.

What used to be meetings at our office or at a client's mostly are now over video conferences. That's how business is done. It's efficient, so it's a lot of times staring at my computer. If that's not what you like, I wouldn't recommend this.

Then there's an aspect of what I call "dialing for dollars." We're looking for investors for our clients to either purchase or invest in a company. So it's contacting investors.

There's also an aspect of putting together materials or overseeing their creation, like models and investor marketing decks. I think the most interesting aspect is talking to the client, seeing what their needs are, how you can help them, and reassuring them. You're holding their hand throughout the process, which can be lengthy. It usually takes about a year.
