Aaron, an Account Manager at Wish, wished they had stronger Excel and PowerPoint skills before starting their career, highlighting the value of "basic or even more advanced functions." The most insightful point was their emphasis on the importance of learning adaptability and prioritization on the job, stressing the value of "learning how to adapt" and "prioritize" in a dynamic work environment.

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered this industry?
Here is the cleaned transcript:
What have I learned about this role? I think I wish I knew how to do a little more Excel or PowerPoint, because that always helps. Regardless of any job, knowing how to do basic or even more advanced functions is definitely an aspect that is not harmful.
I think knowing what to expect in terms of working in a company versus just jumping in and figuring it out would be nice too. A lot of these things in transitions can be smoother if you reached out to folks a little more and did your own research beforehand, either online or through people you reach out to.
Those are some things that I wish I knew. Honestly, I think I'm pretty happy with the way things turned out, because learning on the job is equally important. Learning how to navigate certain workforce dynamics is also key.
Learning how to adapt, remembering times where I was doing a certain task but then had to pivot directly to something more urgent. So knowing how to let go as well and prioritize that is something that is hard to prepare for before you jump into something. It's only a little easier when you're actually doing it.
A lot of these learnings apply generally. I wouldn't limit them to e-commerce specifically, unless you're talking about product knowledge or industry knowledge. Otherwise, a lot of these things that I wish I knew are more related to general working style and knowing how to work in a full-time position or in any company post-college.
