What entry-level positions in this field might an undergraduate college student consider?
I think as an undergrad, starting as a product analyst would be a good way to begin in this role and in this industry. I know there are several opportunities as a product analyst or product specialist intern.
Even if you don't start in product, other roles can lead you to this path, such as marketing, business development, and project management. Ultimately, as a product owner, you do all these things.
You have to understand your customers and know the best way to market your product. You also have to manage several projects happening simultaneously and come up with ideas to keep increasing product use. I would recommend starting in any of those areas.
