Transcript

What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

I work at the bedside in an acute care hospital, so I am doing direct patient care. That is my main responsibility in a nutshell.

It's a lot of collaboration, assessment, medications, and things like that. I work in critical care, so the patients are very, very sick.

In California, there are mandated nurse to patient ratios. So, by law, I can't take care of more than two patients in the critical care setting.

My main responsibility is direct patient care and keeping that person stable or alive. It also involves getting them to the next step in their disease process, whether they're getting better or worse. That's the main goal of my responsibility since I work at the bedside.
